Is tomorrow truly a new day? Does the future really exist? There are days on a calendar but what does this mean for us internally?
From my own experience, there is only one day. Tomorrow is no different than today for human beings. The external details or external circumstances may change but fundamentally you are the same as you were last week and last year. Unless some drastic internal shifts and deep realizations occur, how you are right now inside is how you will be for the rest of your life.
That future payoff, that future day when you become satisfied forever never comes. “When I get “X”, I will be happy forever” is a lie society preaches.
When that anticipated tomorrow finally comes, it comes as today. Nothing exists except right now. Right now, is where satisfaction, peace, freedom, and internal calmness can only be found. The future, tomorrow and extra time is a complete myth because all your plans could change in an instant. The only guaranteed thing the future holds is pain and suffering. The reason is because that’s what most people’s lives have become in most of waking moments. Whether they realize it or not.
Most people around me live in the future. They’re scheming and anticipating for some future day. The sheer number of people I speak to anticipating and planning a future holiday/event/weekend is proof of society’s harmful conditioning on people. Why are you looking forward to a better tomorrow when there is only today? The reasoning behind this I believe is because they need a better tomorrow to justify their anxiety and suffering today. My open question to these people is this:
“What if your today was deeply satisfying, so engaging and so blissful that you didn’t need to look forward to the future?” 😊
