When I first started on the entrepreneurial journey, I naively expected that this would be a straightforward and painless journey.
I knew that it would take time, energy, and hard work to get to financial freedom.
My plan was the following:
- Generate some business ideas.
- Pick the most suitable and lucrative idea for myself. Discard the rest.
- Develop a business plan.
- Execute on said business plan.
So far, it’s been a few months of generating ideas, and nothing is sticking. No idea is worth pursuing because there’s so much competition, it’s not lucrative enough for the energy expenditure or it’s not within my expertise/interest. I could easily open a firm in my own industry, however there’s no point. If I’m getting paid well and there’s 15+ competitors in the market providing exact the same product, the chance of success is slim.
Regardless of my limited progress I must go on. I must get my financial freedom in this lifetime. Freedom is the only thing. Freedom from money problems. Then freedom from the mind. I’ve realized that working for someone is slavery. We as human beings were not born for set schedules, in particular, the 9-5pm schedule. This societal and man-made schedule was invented for industrial labor protection and pushed because it’s good for business.
This was made very clear to me when I took a few extended breaks from work.
During those few extended breaks:
- I didn’t plan anything more than a week in advance.
- I did limited interstate travel. (Side note – the amount of people who asked me if I travelled anywhere after my break was pretty much everyone. When I told them I just stayed locally and travelled interstate short term, the most common response was disappointment. That I should have travelled to X location and done Y activities. This is another example of society’s lies that people need to go somewhere else on their holidays otherwise it’s a waste. Furthermore, that happiness can only be found going to Z location instead of right here, right now. It’s no wonder the travel industry is thriving…)
- I had no schedule, no emails, and no Microsoft teams meetings.
- I rode my road bike everywhere and did at least an hour of aerobic activity per day.
- I went to the gym every other day.
- I went Latin dancing either through salsa lessons or at Latin social dances a lot.
- I went on a few first dates. All weren’t long term prospects so parted ways.
- I brainstormed heaps of business ideas.
- I spent a lot of time in nature introspecting and gained deep realizations about life.
Essentially, I tasted what freedom from money problems looked like. This taste of freedom will never be available to me if I work a regular 9-5pm or a job like everybody else. This is not to say that’s it wrong for people to work from 9-5pm or work for someone. Everyone will likely need to work for someone at the start, but every human being has the skillset to gain financial freedom. Why? Every human being has a unique DNA, which is a uniquely valuable skillset.
Thus, this drive for entrepreneurship is essential a drive for freedom. There’s no motivation or effort required on my end. Ask everyone around me and I’ve had this inkling for years.
It’s only when my life circumstances tragically changed,
When I clearly saw the suffering, my old lifestyle brought me and others,
When I saw through society’s lies and my own conditioning…
That I dropped every excuse and seriously began my journey to financial freedom that day.
If I can’t wake up when I want to wake up…
If I can’t do what I want when I want…
If I can’t explore my genuine interests and hobbies with my full attention…
If I need to rely on a steady paycheck from an employer…
If I need to do the same thing for the next 40-50 years…
Then am not free.
Thus, the entrepreneurial journey must continue until I reach financial freedom.
There is no other choice.
I was born a free man.
I intend to die as a free man.
